There were facebook videos trending months back wherein some dentists used alginate as a facial mask. Sodium alginate is a rubber impression material used to duplicate the structures in the oral cavity. When placed in the skin, it gives off that cold minty feeling. I don’t like to experiment and put alginate in my face; so, I’ve been looking for a facial mask with the same feeling as alginate.
Then I’ve discovered Dr. Jart+ Shake & Shot Rubber Mask in four different variants:
(Left to Right: Soothing Rubber Mask, Brightening Rubber Mask, Hydro Rubber Mask, Firming Rubber Mask)
Shake & Shot Rubber Soothing Mask
Solutions for: Dryness, Redness, Irritated Skin, Blemishes
The Soothing mask calms and repairs the complexion. It has Vitamin K3 (Menadione) and a soothing botanical complex to calm irritated skin.
Shake & Shot Rubber Brightening Mask
Solutions For: Dullness & Uneven Skintone, Dark Spots, Blemishes
The Brightening mask contains Vitamin C and Sea Buckthorn Fruit Extract that brightens dull skin, diminishes dark spots, and revitalizes skin appearance.
Shake & Shot Rubber Hydro Mask
Solutions for: Dryness, Redness, Fine Lines & Wrinkles
The Hydro mask contains Vitamin B5 (Panthenol) and Expert Moist Complex which makes the skin moisturized and revitalized.
Shake & Shot Rubber Firming Mask
Solutions for: Fine lines, wrinkles, loss of firmness, loss of elasticity, dullness, and uneven texture
The Firming mask contains vitamin A (retinol) and OxyForce™ Cellular Active to help support natural collagen synthesis and elasticity to firm the appearance of sagging skin.
Each cup has two packets, booster & ampoule, which you’ll be shaking in the cup. It also has this straw-looking spatula which you’ll be using to apply the mixture in your face.
How to use?
Pour the Booster (01) first, followed by the Ampoule (2). Then, place the lid and cover the hole with your finger. Shake for around a minute or until you don’t feel any splashing of liquid. It should be in a gel-like consistency. Use the spatula to apply in your face. Remember to tilt your head a little, as the product drips. Also, apply within 2-3 minutes before the material hardens.
Leave it for 15-20 minutes. But personally, I love leaving it for 30mins to an hour since the mask feels cold in the face. It’s like placing a cool gel in your face. Then, remove the mask by starting at the edges.
After removing the mask, proceed to your normal skincare routine… serum, moisturizers, etc.
Tadaaa! That’s the aftermath of using the Shake & Shot Rubber Hydro Mask! My skin is glowing, smooth, firm, and supple! In short, dewy look! I have never seen my face glow this much after using any mask. My favorite part is the cooling effect after I apply the mask to my face. It’s not minty, it’s like applying something like a cold gel.
Pros:
✓ Easy to use ––just mix, shake, and apply!
✓ The product is free of parabens, sulfates, and phthalates.
✓ You see the effect right after using the product.
✓ Smells nice. Doesn’t smell like “chemicals.”
Cons:
☓ It’s a little bit expensive for a mask. It’s Php530/cup at Sephora PH.
All in all, I’m satisfied with Dr. Jart+ Shake & Shot Rubber Mask, and I’d love to use it more as I really like the effect on my skin after each use!
