Accommodation: Subic Grand Seas Resort

My summer mantra: BEACH = Best Escape Anyone Can Have!

Me and my not-so-baby-anymore nephew 🙂

Despite the heavy workload my clients demand from me this summer, I still managed to escape and go to the beach. For months now, I’ve been working as a freelance dental writer for different marketing agencies, dental clinics, and dental manufacturers from US and Australia.

What I like about my current job is that I can bring my laptop with me in my getaways and work at least 3 hours a day and still get paid! Crazy, right? Getting paid while on vacation!

Anyways, mid-April, my siblings and I decided to plan our quick getaway. My brother is having his OJT while my sister and his husband have work, so they need to be back quickly. After deliberating, we decided to spend overnight in Subic.

Good thing is that I have a Subic Grand Seas Resort Voucher from my Belle de Jour Power Planner’s Perks of a Bella. We only get to pay Php 2,450 for the Relaxation Package which includes the following:

  • Accommodation for 2 pax in a deluxe or twin room
  • 30-minute massage each for 2 pax
  • Dining credit worth P500.00

On the other hand, my sister booked a separate room for her family which includes her husband, her 2-year old kid, and our dad. My brother and her girlfriend joined our room. All in all, we’re 7 adults.

On May 3, we left Manila as early as 6am since one of our vehicles was coding on that day. By 7am we all arrived in Petron Km. 23 NLEX Northbound – where we ate our first meal of the day at Pancake House.

During our long drive in SCTEX, my boyfriend’s driver’s license was confiscated due to over speeding. (He typed the first sentence and told me to include it in my post. HAHAHA!). By 12noon, we arrived at Ayala Harbor Point – where we, again, ATE… this time in Kuya J Restaurant. After a short stroll at the mall, we went straight to Subic Grand Seas Resort. The resort was just a few minutes away from the mall.

We arrived at Subic Grand Seas Resort few minutes before the 2pm check-in time, but we’re delighted to know that our rooms were already prepared and available. Upon arriving, we all took a short nap to recover from waking up early, plus the long travel.

This is how our rooms look like. I booked for a twin room – one for me & my boyfriend and one for my brother and his girlfriend. My sister’s room was supposed to be a deluxe room with one queen bed + additional bed. However, we asked for an available room that is side by side. So, both our rooms were twin type.

At around 3:40, we left the hotel and went to Inflatable Island PH which is just 2-5 minutes away from Subic Grand Seas Resort. We booked online for 4-6pm schedule. I will be writing about our Inflatable Island experience in another blog post.

We got back in our hotel just in time for dinner. We decided to eat the restaurant inside the resort – Crab Loco Restaurant and Sayuri Japanese Restaurant. These two restaurants were combined and you can order to both restaurant’s menu.

The food is satisfactory. We ordered 2 different sets which includes different types of Filipino dishes like Shrimp SInigang, Pinakbet, Veggies, and a lot more. We also tried the California Maki, handmade by Sayuri Japanese Restaurant’s chef, which was perfect and very tasty! All in all, we had a great dining experience. Although, I forgot to use my BDJ Card to avail of 10% discount on food & beverages.

After night swimming, we played Nintendo Switch all night in one of our rooms. We played Mario Kart, Bomberman, and Tetris just like the old times but this time with our partners. During our younger years, the three of us loves to play together with our Nintendo family computer.

The next day, we woke up around 9am and had our breakfast at Sayuri Japanese Restaurant. Our room, which was availed using Belle de Jour x Subic Grand Seas Resort Coupon, doesn’t include breakfast; however, you can spend your P500 dining credit for your breakfast. The breakfast buffet cost P200/head. The buffet has longaniza, fried rice, bread, scrambled egg, soup, and juice or tea. They also have ala carte menu for any additional orders. I would love to have bacon for breakfast, too bad it isn’t available.

After a few more hours of spending time with family, we checked out at 12noon and traveled back to Manila. It was surely a quick getaway!

Overall Verdict:

The resort is satisfactory if you want a quick getaway for a very affordable price. The rooms were neat and spacious. The pool was also well-maintained. However, don’t expect much of the beach. I was expecting much like the Subic white beaches we go to since I was a kid, which I later learned was on the other side. The beach was a bit crowded by boats with some garbage floating. It has a quite small beachside too. We just decided not to swim at the beach and just stay at the pool.

The staff were approachable and very friendly. The check-in and check-out were both fast. I highly commend their amazing staff.

Overall, we all enjoyed our stay and had a great time!
